A maintenance plan for a website is the work that starts after the pages are live. Updates, backups, security and a way to change a phone number. It is easy to buy this too early, as a monthly bundle, before anyone has agreed what the site even contains.
The page that describes ongoing care is website maintenance. The checklist of tasks already on the site is what a website maintenance plan should include. This note is about timing and money, so the three searches for a plan do not all land on the same paragraph. Comparing several offers is in how to compare website maintenance plans.
What the plan is
A small business site in Godstone or Caterham does not need a department. It needs someone, you or us, to install updates, keep a backup that can be restored, and notice if the form stops sending. It needs a person who can change opening hours on the day they change. That is the plan. A report full of charts is optional. A working contact path is not.
The care page on this site names the practical pieces: content-management updates, security checks, backups, a look at speed, and a little time for edits. Those are the right headings. They are not a promise that a plugin will never fail.
What it is not
It is not the website build. The build is a fixed price for a fixed list of pages. It is not a ranking retainer. We will not sell a position in Godstone as part of care. It is not a reason to keep the design locked so you cannot leave. You should be able to move the site.
It is also not a page of invented clients. Looking after a site is dull on purpose. The test is whether the form still arrives and the backup still restores.
A short list
Before launch, confirm who can log in, where messages go, and that a backup exists. In the first month, change one small thing yourself, such as a sentence on the contact page, so you know the edit path works. After that, updates and backups on a rhythm you can name. If you want us to do that rhythm, say so. The fuller single-plan version is a website maintenance plan for a small site.
Photos, prices and hours still belong to you. A plan does not invent them. If the Google profile shows different hours from the site, fix that first. Consistency is described in name, address and phone.
Where the money sits
Starter is £150 for up to five pages. Business is £295 for up to fifteen. Growth is £495 for up to thirty. The first year of domain, hosting and SSL is included. From year two, renewal is about £60, paid to the providers. That £60 is hosting, not a maintenance plan.
No separate monthly care price is published on this site. The Growth package mentions an ongoing care option. Ask what it includes, in sentences, before you agree a monthly amount. If a quote leads with a retainer and never lists the pages, pause. The build prices are explained again in the Godstone cost guide.
When to start one
Start the plan when the site is about to go live, not six months before the words exist. Most small sites are ready within two to four weeks of the text and pictures. Send the page list first. We will say which build matches it, and whether you need anyone else involved after launch. The studio is at 109A Brighton Road, Coulsdon, CR5 2NG. Godstone and Caterham sites are looked after from there.
